Start N4032F procurement with the optical bill of materials

N4032F provides 24 fixed SFP+ cages that autosense 10GbE or 1GbE. It is not the fixed-RJ45 N4032. Every active path therefore needs an explicit optic or direct-attach selection matched to its peer, link speed and distance.

Transceivers are not implied by the chassis code

Dell lists SFP and SFP+ optics plus direct-attach cable options separately. Capture part number, wavelength or cable type, reach and peer device for each link, then inspect connectors and monitor link errors during burn-in. Do not present optional media as included with N4032F.

Use the module bay for a documented role

The hot-swappable expansion bay supports three listed module families: four extra SFP+ interfaces, four 10GBASE-T RJ45 interfaces or two QSFP+ interfaces. Select one from the uplink and oversubscription design, and keep the module serial and cable inventory with the receiving record.

Lower-power fiber variant facts

The N4032F entry has an approximate weight of 9.59 kg and a 176 W maximum-consumption figure. Shared chassis facts are 1RU height, 43.43 x 433.83 x 459.99 mm dimensions, I/O-to-power-supply airflow and two included redundant hot-swappable 460 W supplies. Verify airflow, cord region and rack clearance with the final fiber bundle installed.

Prove the intended topology

Dell specifies 640 Gbps full-duplex switching and 476 Mpps forwarding for N4032F. Its user-port stack design supports 10GbE or 40GbE links, with up to 160 Gbps listed for the 32-port family members. Test the chosen optical paths, firmware and recovery events before moving live traffic.
