SPA-1X10GE-WL-V2 LAN/WAN-PHY Interface Module

SPA-1X10GE-WL-V2 is a one-port 10GbE Shared Port Adapter, not a router or standalone switch. Cisco designed it for selectable IEEE 802.3ae LAN-PHY or WAN-PHY operation with a field-replaceable XFP. The exact no-equals PID is the regular orderable adapter; Cisco lists SPA-1X10GE-WL-V2= separately as the spare form.

Host, SIP and image qualification

Identify the router chassis, SIP/slot, hardware revision and software image before purchase. For ASR 1000, Cisco documents IOS XE 3.3.0S or later as the minimum starting point, but the selected production release and host combination must still be checked in the current compatibility matrix.

LAN/WAN mode acceptance

Both ends of the optical circuit must use the same LAN-PHY or WAN-PHY mode. The adapter defaults to WAN-PHY in Cisco's ASR configuration guidance and reloads when the mode changes. Record controller mode, XFP PID, wavelength, reach, DOM levels, SONET/WAN-PHY alarms where applicable and a sustained bidirectional traffic test.

Lifecycle and replacement planning

Cisco ended sale August 15, 2022 and lists November 30, 2027 as the last support date, with no direct replacement in the exact lifecycle row. A redesign may move the service to native router ports or a newer interface architecture; do not assume another 10GbE SPA preserves WAN-PHY timing and alarm behavior.
