Exact selection decision

Use this PID where powered endpoints are not required or are supplied by separate injectors. Verify every access link negotiates at the intended speed and keep SFP PID, wavelength, fiber type and peer for all four uplinks.

Uplink and capacity plan

Map every uplink to optic or copper media, peer, speed, LACP group, spanning-tree role and failure behavior. Calculate access-to-uplink oversubscription from the exact port speeds; a shared four-uplink count does not make the FE, Gigabit, PoE and non-PoE models interchangeable.

Receiving and acceptance evidence

Test twenty-four copper data links and four 1G SFP paths. Record VLANs, spanning-tree role, uplink aggregation, transceiver DOM and the consequence of losing each uplink.

Software and lifecycle record

Record serial, installed Cisco IOS release, configuration backup, management access, VLANs, security controls and supported transceivers. Cisco has announced end of sale for the Catalyst 1000 family, so verify serial-specific support and migration timing before a new deployment.
