C1-N5696Q-6FEX-1G Six-FEX Bundle

C1-N5696Q-6FEX-1G is Cisco's exact Nexus 5696Q order with six 1 Gigabit Fabric Extenders and FETs. It is a distributed access bundle, not a bare chassis and not a statement that every possible 5696Q expansion module is installed.

Six child devices must be received

Reconcile the parent-switch serial, six FEX PIDs and serials, FET quantities and cable endpoints. Record each FEX ID, uplink pair, rack, host-port range and parent association; a carton-level SKU cannot substitute for a six-device asset schedule.

5696Q expansion boundary

Cisco documents the 4RU Nexus 5696Q with eight expansion-module slots and capacity up to 96 40GbE ports when fully populated. That platform ceiling is not the delivered configuration. Inventory every installed 12-port 40GbE or unified module, power supply, fan and optic before stating port density.

FEX acceptance test

Validate FET type, polarity and supported distance, then test discovery, pinning, port-channel behavior and a parent-link failure for all six FEXes. Preserve NX-OS and compatibility evidence because the child devices do not operate as independent switches.

Lifecycle decision

Cisco ended sale of this Nexus 5600/2000 bundle on April 30, 2018. The later Nexus 5696Q platform notice lists May 5, 2021 as hardware/software end of sale and May 31, 2026 as the final support date, with security support extended through that date. Continued use therefore needs an approved migration and security-exception record.
