ASR5K-SW-R9C-K9 Release 9 CDMA and General Software

ASR5K-SW-R9C-K9 is Cisco's non-spare ASR 5000 Release 9 system-software PID for CDMA and general use. The R9C designation is material: Cisco separately listed R9U for UMTS, so this page must not present the SKU as a generic Release 9 package for every deployment.

Legacy CDMA/general boundary

This PID provides neither an ASR 5000 chassis nor subscriber-session, application-feature or redundancy licenses. It also does not establish access to an image or a cryptographic entitlement. Match the order to the customer's historical software records and target deployment before treating it as deliverable.

Lifecycle and migration history

Cisco stopped selling Release 9 on March 9, 2013, ended maintenance releases on March 9, 2014 and ended all support on March 31, 2018. The bulletin identified ASR5K-SW-R12-K9 as the replacement at that time. That historical recommendation is not evidence that Release 12 remains supported today or that a direct upgrade is safe.

Operational proof required

Before acceptance, capture the installed release, platform inventory, service configuration and rollback media. Confirm the exact CDMA/general requirement, software entitlement, image integrity and offline security controls. Use this obsolete release only where a validated installed-base dependency prevents migration.
