ASR5K-FANT-UP Upper Tray Identity

ASR5K-FANT-UP is Cisco's upper fan tray for the ASR 5000 chassis. Cisco documents this assembly as the upper exhaust stage: it draws heated air through the chassis and discharges it from the upper rear and sides. The exact position and airflow role distinguish it from lower intake SKU ASR5K-FANT-LW.

Exhaust-path diagnosis

Use the upper SKU when inventory, alarm and physical inspection identify the upper fan controller or exhaust assembly. Before ordering, capture the chassis PID and serial, fan-controller state, speed, exhaust temperature, alarm text and current tray PID/version. Rule out blocked rear clearance, an upstream lower-intake problem or a system-wide thermal condition before replacing the exhaust tray.

Replacement-window controls

Follow the Cisco installation procedure and site safety rules. Have the verified upper replacement available before removing the installed unit, preserve ESD protection and allow rotating fans to stop before handling.
