ASR5K-BLNK-RR-HH Exact Fit

ASR5K-BLNK-RR-HH is Cisco's rear half-height blanking panel for the ASR 5000. It covers an unused half-height rear line-card position and must not be substituted for the full-height XGLC rear panel or the front application-card blank.

Rear half-height slot check

Confirm that the unused opening retains the half-height guide and is intended for a half-height line-card form. The ASR 5000 supports rear-loading line-card positions, while a full-height XGLC installation requires removal of the half-height guide. Record the exact slot and adjacent card arrangement before ordering this panel.

Airflow and electrical protection

Cisco requires blanking panels over unused chassis slots to maintain ventilation and reduce electric-shock risk. Do not leave a rear slot open after removing a half-height card. Inspect the panel for bending, damaged captive hardware or gaps that would prevent it from seating flush against the chassis.

Installation acceptance

Use ESD precautions, align the panel with the correct rear half-height opening, and tighten its retaining screws with the appropriate tool. Confirm that it is secure and flush, that neighboring ejector levers and cabling remain unobstructed, and that chassis temperatures and fan alarms remain normal after maintenance.

Inventory purpose

This passive spare has no firmware, serial console, network interface or traffic-processing function. Inventory it by exact PID and location so technicians do not confuse it with the visually different rear full-height or front panel during emergency card removal.

Cisco includes ASR5K-BLNK-RR-HH in the ASR 5000 end-of-sale/end-of-life notice. This SKU is one rear half-height filler only; it does not include a line card, slot guide, full-height XGLC filler, front blanking panel or installation service.
