ASR5K-BLNK-RR-FH XGLC Opening

ASR5K-BLNK-RR-FH is the ASR 5000 rear full-height blanking panel identified by Cisco for XGLC positions only. It closes the full-height rear opening created for the one-port 10 Gigabit Ethernet XGLC form and is not the half-height rear filler.

Full-height configuration check

The ASR 5000 installation guide explains that the chassis uses half-height guides for ordinary rear line cards and that the guide is removed to support a full-height XGLC. Verify that the target opening is in the full-height XGLC configuration before selecting this PID. Record any removed guide hardware as part of the chassis configuration.

Cooling path restoration

When an XGLC is removed and the full-height opening remains unused, install the correct filler promptly. Cisco warns that uncovered slots reduce airflow and can cause overheating, while blanking panels also reduce electrical exposure. A pair of half-height fillers should not be assumed equivalent unless Cisco's approved chassis procedure explicitly supports that configuration.

Mechanical inspection

Check the full-height panel for straightness, undamaged mounting hardware and correct ASR 5000 identity. Seat it flush across the complete rear opening and secure all retaining points. Confirm that it does not interfere with adjacent line-card handles, optical cabling or access to the chassis rear.

Post-maintenance evidence

After installation, inspect the entire card cage for uncovered gaps, verify fan and temperature status, and update the slot inventory to show an unused full-height XGLC position. Preserve the removed card, guide components and rollback instructions if the XGLC may be restored.
