ASR5K-4OC3C-MM-K9= OLC2 Identity

ASR5K-4OC3C-MM-K9= is Cisco's spare orderable form of the ASR 5000 OLC2 four-port ATM STM-1c/OC-3c line card supplied with multimode SFP interfaces. It is distinct from channelized CLC2 cards, single-mode OLC2 variants and Ethernet QGLC products.

ATM/POS service mapping

Before replacement, document all four physical ports and their configured ATM or packet-over-SONET/SDH roles, including peer, framing, clock source, virtual-path/channel or interface settings, MTU and redundancy. Confirm that the running StarOS release and chassis slot support the exact OLC2 PID and hardware revision.

Multimode optical acceptance

Verify multimode fiber type, path length, connector cleanliness, polarity and peer optics for each circuit. Capture available optical readings and alarms, establish link on every populated port and monitor errors under traffic. Do not connect or describe this SKU as the single-mode optical variant.

Timing dependency

Record whether service timing is derived from a line interface or from the platform timing design. Cisco notes that external BITS timing and line-derived clocking have specific SPIO and optional Stratum 3 relationships. Validate the deployed clock source and failover behavior rather than assuming the OLC2 alone defines system timing.

Four-port commissioning

After insertion, verify UDI PID/version/serial, operational state, card mappings, all four port identities and absence of programmable or hardware alarms. Test representative traffic, counters, clock stability and the approved redundant path. Preserve before/after configuration and a rollback procedure.

Spare and lifecycle scope
