ASR-9001 combines four integrated 10GE SFP+ service ports with two bays for supported 1GE, 10GE or 40GE Modular Port Adapters. Cisco specifies 120 Gbps of nonblocking full-duplex fabric capacity and an integrated route switch processor with 8 GB RAM in the 2RU chassis.
The router supports redundant AC or DC power using A9K-750W-AC or A9K-750W-DC supplies. Cisco lists side-to-side airflow, 425 W typical consumption and 525 W maximum. A replacement order must match the facility power type, airflow plan, MPA inventory, optics and the supported Cisco IOS XR release.
Cisco identifies ASR-9001 as end of sale, with an end-of-sale date of February 11, 2022 and an end-of-support date of February 28, 2027. Procurement should therefore include a support, software and migration assessment. Cisco's datasheet also states that site-to-site IPsec VPN is not supported on this platform, so it must not be positioned as a VPN replacement solely from its routing capacity.
