Identify the fourteen-port Firewall Edition order

The full ASA5525-CU-K9 identifier matters when replacing an installed firewall. Cisco lists fourteen copper Gigabit Ethernet data connections for this order, compared with eight for ASA5525-K9. A dedicated copper Gigabit management interface is separate from those data ports. The fourteen-port figure is the bundle total; do not add six more interfaces to it by reading a platform expansion-card capability as additional supplied capacity.

Keep encryption and service entitlements separate

The exact ordering row specifies firewall services, a 3DES/AES license, two security contexts and Active/Active high availability. It also lists 750 IPsec VPN peers and two SSL VPN peers. These are the historical order's license figures, not evidence of a currently transferable entitlement, an installed AnyConnect upgrade or a second appliance included for failover. Ask for the offered unit's software, license record and configuration before matching an existing deployment.

Do not infer SSD or inspection services from the family name

ASA5525-CU-K9 is listed under Firewall Edition orders. Cisco lists IPS Edition and SSD120 orders separately. The CU ordering description does not establish a supplied 120GB SSD, an IPS service entitlement or a FirePOWER subscription. A storage slot or a family performance table cannot supply that missing evidence. Obtain an inventory of the actual unit and its licensed software; this page does not promise a bundled inspection service.

Review the completed manufacturer support window

Cisco EOL13130 expressly includes ASA5525-CU-K9. The last manufacturer sale date was 4 September 2020, new service attachment ended on 4 September 2021, contract renewal ended on 30 November 2024 and hardware support ended on 30 September 2025. Treat this as a legacy sourcing decision. A seller warranty, if offered with the quotation, is separate from Cisco support and does not extend those manufacturer milestones.

Match the supplied unit before approving a replacement

The ordering row calls for one AC power supply. Confirm regional cabling, rack accessories, the actual interface inventory, chassis condition and configuration compatibility. An alternative platform needs its own evaluation of port media, VPN licensing, failover behavior and software policy.
