A9K-16X100GE-FC Commercial and Hardware Identity

A9K-16X100GE-FC is the non-spare Cisco ASR 9000 16-port 100 Gigabit Ethernet line card sold under the Flexible Consumption Model. Cisco classifies this family as fourth-generation hardware. It is not the traditional A9K-16X100GE-TR transport PID and does not by itself grant unlimited software capacity.

Sixteen-port deployment record

Build a port plan for all sixteen QSFP28/QSFP+ positions, including interface rate, breakout where supported, optic PID, peer, fiber path, MTU, protection role and enabled software tier. Reconcile the installed card with the per-100G software right-to-use or subscription record before treating a lit port as commercially authorized.

Platform generation gate

Confirm exact modular chassis, route processor, fabric generation, fan requirements and 64-bit IOS XR release. Cisco's current platform documentation lists this PID among fourth-generation cards. A physical slot fit or a matching 100GE optic does not replace the complete compatibility check.

Lifecycle migration

Cisco's fourth-generation lifecycle notice names A9K-20HG-FLEX-FC as the replacement. That fifth-generation 2T multi-rate card changes port flexibility and capacity licensing, so migration requires new optics, software, fabric and port-mapping validation rather than a simple one-for-one swap.

Acceptance boundary

Verify PID, serial, hardware revision, card state, licensed capacity, sixteen interface states, optics diagnostics, traffic counters and redundancy. The line item excludes a chassis, optics, route processor, fabric cards and software entitlements.
