A99-16X100GE-X-SE= is the spare orderable form of Cisco's fourth-generation ASR 9900 16-port 100GE QSFP Service Edge line card. The `SE` suffix identifies the service-edge feature orientation; it must not be substituted with a packet-transport or Flexible Consumption PID.

Service-edge requirement map

Before replacement, record VRF, BNG, MPLS, QoS, multicast and other edge-service dependencies actually used by the card. Compare them with the target IOS XR release and licensed feature set. Port count and forwarding rate alone do not prove that the replacement preserves service scale.

Sixteen-port optical custody

Map every QSFP28/QSFP+ port to optic PID, peer, FEC, fiber path, bundle and protection role. Capture diagnostics and error history before the maintenance event, then verify link, traffic and service behavior for every populated interface after insertion.

Cisco's fourth-generation lifecycle notice maps this exact spare to A9K-20HG-FLEX-SE=, a fifth-generation 2T Service Edge combo spare. The successor changes port flexibility and platform requirements, so validate chassis, RSP/RP, fabric, fans, IOS XR, optics and feature licensing as a migration.

The equals sign is part of the spare PID. The order excludes optics, chassis, route processor, fabric, software licenses and migration service. Preserve UDI, configuration, feature evidence and rollback before replacement.
